Leading provider of terminal operating systems rapidly grows customer base, streamlining operations for terminal operators worldwide

Seattle, WA — Tuesday, December 09, 2014

Tideworks Technology® Inc., a full-service provider of comprehensive terminal management and planning software solutions, today announced that 100 rail and marine terminals spanning 22 countries and 4 continents globally have selected and gone live with its terminal operating systems (TOS) to achieve peak operational efficiency. Tideworks 100th site to go live was CSX Intermodal’s Valleyfield terminal in Quebec, Canada—CSX’s fifth Tideworks implementation across its network—marking Tideworks’ continued expansion in the intermodal rail terminal market.

“We are proud to announce this significant milestone,” said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks. “Since 1999, we’ve been committed to offering top-notch terminal operating and planning systems to help operators around the globe improve operations, and this 100th deployment validates our hard work and ongoing dedication to the satisfaction and success of our customers.”

As container volumes continue to rise, today’s terminal operators face increasing pressure to scale seamlessly and find new ways to do more with less. This has created demand for commercial, off-the-shelf solutions that can automate and optimize operations, integrate with multiple systems and help terminal operators manage their entire networks more efficiently. Tideworks’ advanced TOS solution was designed specifically with these objectives in mind to help terminal operators reduce their IT overhead and achieve greater flexibility, productivity and overall efficiency than provided by an in-house solution.

“Implementing Tideworks’ integrated solutions has reduced our operating expenses, enabled better resource management and allowed us to deliver top-notch services to our customers, while maximizing our footprint,” said Odran Montgomery, general manager of Burke Shipping Dublin. “We have been able to scale effectively to meet increasing demand and increasing container volumes.  Tideworks TOS has given us a competitive advantage and enables us to continue to grow with ease.”

More than 65,000 logistics professionals across more than 100 sites worldwide leverage Tideworks’ solutions to enhance all types of terminal activities, everything from loading ships and trains to tracking container movements and making payments. Tideworks’ newest product offering, Handheld Gate, offers terminals the flexibility to process inbound and outbound gate traffic, including inspections, without the constraints of physical lanes. Additional Tideworks TOS capabilities include container and railcar inventory, container coordination to and from trucks, advanced move prioritization, optimized transfer land allocation, efficient worklist sorting, monitoring operations, and optimizing equipment and terminal utilization.
