Every year before summer ends, before we hang up the beach towels, put the grill back in storage and squeeze in those last days of wearing flip flops, Tideworks likes to gather our employees and families for a summer picnic. This year, we hosted the picnic at Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo.
Everyone enjoyed visiting the various zoo exhibits (my favorite is always the penguins) and meeting Katie the rescue opossum who joined us for an animal encounter. Kids helped assemble Katie’s temporary viewing cage and learned some fun facts. Did you know opossum’s have superpowers against snakes? They have partial or total immunity to venom produced by rattlesnakes, cottonmouths and other pit vipers.
The zoo also just welcomed back the tigers and sloth bears in their new Banyan Wilds exhibit, which lies at the heart of the zoo. It was another beautiful day in Seattle to continue our summer tradition!
