Jacksonville, Florida Terminal Goes Live with Tideworks’ Solutions and Drastically Reduces Average Gate Transaction Times
SEATTLE – October 13, 2015 – Tideworks Technology® Inc., a full-service provider of comprehensive terminal management and planning software solutions, today announced that TOTE Maritime, formerly known as Sea Star Line, LLC, has successfully gone live with Tideworks’ terminal operating system (TOS) at its facility in Jacksonville, Florida under a fully hosted model. Since the implementation was completed in August, TOTE Maritime has seen notable improvements to its operational efficiencies: Within the first two weeks following system go-live, the terminal’s average gate transaction time dropped from more than five minutes to 90 seconds per transaction.
“It has been very gratifying to help TOTE Maritime modernize its technology platform and see an almost immediate impact to its terminal operations,” said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks. “TOTE Maritime is a large and well-respected shipping line in the Florida and Caribbean region, and we’re proud of the work we have done with them. We recognize many ports are focused on optimization and increasing efficiency and are pleased to help our customers achieve these objectives through our solutions.”
TOTE Maritime has deployed Tideworks’ core TOS Mainsail Vanguard® as well as its Spinnaker Planning Management System® and Traffic Control™ equipment dispatch system. Tideworks’ GateVision® gate operating system was also implemented to integrate all of the components of the gate transaction into one user interface so TOTE Maritime can process trucks more quickly. In addition, Tideworks is providing its managed EDI service, known as EDI PorterSM, enabling TOTE Maritime to effortlessly exchange information with its trading partners and other enterprise systems. The IT infrastructure supporting the TOS is hosted at Tideworks’ hardened data center.
Before the system went live, Tideworks and TOTE Maritime worked closely to conduct a thorough business process analysis and site assessment to ensure a smooth transition and implementation. Tideworks also rolled out a new user training curriculum for TOTE Maritime to guarantee the team was fully prepared to utilize the new system. Moving forward, Tideworks will continue to provide its platinum maintenance and support services, which include 24/7 technical support and software upgrades.
“We’re pleased with the results that we’ve seen since the go-live in Jacksonville,” said Tim Nolan, president at TOTE Maritime. “Tideworks’ TOS has already resulted in the streamlining of processes, positioning us well for future growth. Along with additional terminal improvements and investments being made in new vessels, this technology upgrade represents our long-term commitment to providing the best service possible to our customers. We’re looking forward to continuing our partnership with Tideworks.”
This marks the first of two implementations at TOTE Maritime terminals, as the organization plans to go live with Tideworks’ hosted solutions at its San Juan, Puerto Rico terminal next year.
