Why Is Tideworks’ Approach to Training a Competitive Advantage?

Our training allows your staff to maximize our products’ benefits to tackle challenges specific to your organization. We work closely with you to develop training custom-tailored to your needs. Your staff will learn to use our products in contexts relevant to your organization’s processes, priorities, and business approach. This ensures your team can hit the ground running after training to take full advantage of the investments you’ve made.

What Is the Tideworks Training Philosophy?

We believe that people are most successful when knowledge is not an obstacle in the workplace. This means that they’re trained to recognize and solve their problems, are able to be self-sufficient, and have the knowledge to improve their own processes. To that end, we provide your staff a thorough education of our products, empowering the people of your organization to become experts in their own roles.

What Training Options Do You Provide?

We offer various training options to fit your organization’s needs and budget. We work with you to design the best program for your staff that may include a combination of user documentation, videos, online courses, or instructor-led training.

General Tideworks Comprehensive Approach to Training FAQOn-Site Training: We offer in-person training conducted at your facility, led by our expert training staff. This is an excellent option for clients who prefer the ability to interact directly with their trainers, tools, and courses. We strongly recommend this option for new clients.

Virtual Training: The virtual training experience connects with students remotely to deliver the same on-site courses using a more flexible approach. Instead of delivering all of the material at one time, our training staff splits the materials into shorter lessons that can be easily administered virtually. This is a great option for those who prefer to train their staff in shorter sessions over multiple weeks.

Tideworks University: Tideworks University is our latest online training platform, offering a catalog of e-learning courses, product guides, and other knowledge materials specific to a project or client training engagement. Tideworks University uses a secure learning platform that provides an on-demand training option for those who prefer learning at their own pace and convenience.  We can administer a broad range of materials using the learning platform, from e-courses to video training, and all progress can be tracked and published using in-app reporting tools.

Our Tideworks Knowledgebase is an ever-expanding collection of articles written to address specific client questions and concerns. Articles are based on real-world scenarios, ensuring that they’re relevant, timely, and eminently practical.

Is Virtual Training as Effective as On-Site Training?

Absolutely. We carefully structure our virtual sessions to maintain the integrity of our on-site training; the only difference is the instructor teaches through a screen. The virtual sessions cover the same topics, are led by the same trainers, and students can still ask questions as they would in an on-site session. Some clients prefer the presence of on-site training, and the option is available, but many also find our virtual option a great and comparable fit.

In some ways, virtual training is preferable to on-site training. For example, since there’s no travel involved, sessions can be shortened and split up over multiple days, reducing the amount of time your team has to be away from their responsibilities. There is much greater flexibility in designing a training schedule that fits your needs.

How Do You Determine the Training People Need to Receive?

We consult with you ahead of time to determine your organization’s specific needs. In general, we train super users first. These users are product admins and organizational leaders who support other users and need a rigorous and profound understanding of our applications. We continue to train super users throughout the lifecycle of the project, and general users are later trained based on the roles they play in your organization.

Who Will Lead Our Training Sessions?

We select trainers from our pool of Client Solutions Specialists (CSSs) who have extensive knowledge of our entire product suite and solve client issues daily. They understand each product and how it can be best utilized in various terminal operating environments. The CSSs’ unique mix of product knowledge, real-world problem-solving skills, and customer service expertise make them the best choice for rigorous, practical, and approachable training.

Will There Be Downtime at My Terminal?

No downtime is necessary; your terminal will continue to operate as usual. For on-site engagements, you’ll only need to pull select personnel for limited periods during their training. If this is a concern, we recommend you consider our virtual training option, which splits training courses into smaller lessons over a longer time frame, reducing a personnel’s time away.

How Do You Minimize the Impact for a New Implementation?

Implementing new applications requires commitment and will take time for users to acclimate to the new process and system. Through our training approach, we help manage the impact on your organization and individual users. Together, we’ll collaborate to realize the full value of your Tideworks investment, both supporting and enhancing your current processes.

Is There an Extra Fee for Training?

Yes. Training is purchased separately on an as-needed basis. Your CSSs will work with you to design an appropriate training plan, so you’ll only pay for the training you need. Experienced users sometimes require minimal training, whereas new implementations may require extensive sessions. Our training plans are customized based on your needs, budget, and available options (on-site, virtual, or Tideworks University.)
