Reporting is a critical part of operating your terminal. It’s how you communicate progress to your stakeholders and disseminate vital information to your team. Fast, accurate reports are a crucial tool to keep your terminal running well.
That’s where Mainsail 10 comes in –– giving you the ability to configure and run insightful reports to meet all your operational needs. You can access quick snapshots of data for comparative analysis, or deep analytics tools for all your terminal data.
Whether it’s historical reporting, real-time visibility or trending analysis, Mainsail 10 empowers you to keep an eye on what’s happening today, in addition to what may impact your terminal’s future.
Static Reporting
In previous systems, we had a number of pre-configured reports. When you ran those reports, the system would create a specific output in a specific format. As a result, you had many ”canned reports” that were very static in nature.
Static reporting is important –– structured and reliable. We have a lot of reports that we’ve built over the years, that still serve a crucial purpose. But it’s time to broaden our horizons –– and yours.
Custom “Ad-Hoc” Reporting
In Mainsail 10, our latest features give the user full control and power with their terminal data.
These new developments give you the ability to pick and choose the different data elements of interest to you to create “ad-hoc” reports. You can format the output, create pivot tables and recap the data dynamically. It’s a powerful, real-time way to do custom reporting for terminal operators.
Through Mainsail, you can query on just about anything you want, over any time range you’d like, get your query results, and then format those any way you’d like. You have the ability to move columns around, export results to PDF or Excel, and other options for personalization. You can even save commonly used queries (for personal or global use), such that your custom reports are available to you any time in the future.
Dynamic Recaps
A significant advance in Mainsail’s reporting capabilities allows you to dynamically recap the data of your ad-hoc report. Let’s say you want to know the current inventory of full export containers in your yard. Your query returns a list of all full export containers, but a recap of the data might display, for example, twenty 40-foot containers, sixteen 20-foot containers and eight 45-foot containers for a particular ocean carrier. Instead of showing every individual record, dynamic recap takes whatever data report the user generates and recaps on that report, by virtually any criteria desired. Furthermore, the data is dynamic (not static). So, in the example above, as an export container completes loading to the vessel, the recap is decremented.
In the past, you simply received the output, but you couldn’t do much with that output, outside of time-consuming drill-downs or manual recaps. And by the time you were done, that data might have changed.
With Mainsail 10, we have removed what once was a major roadblock to data discovery –– we can create custom reports and dynamically recap on those datasets.
Enhanced User Experience
As with other aspects of Mainsail 10, the reporting process is extremely intuitive. The application leverages “hotkeys” allowing users to quickly navigate to the information they need or launch a desired action. It’s the little details like this that add up to huge productivity savings over the long haul.
Do you want to do an equipment search? Do you want to create a bill of lading, or perform a mass edit? It’s now easier than ever to get to those action steps. Previously, menu-driven versions of Mainsail included a help file to find which form ID you needed to enter, to run a particular report or launch a particular screen. Now, a couple of hotkeys bring you to the entry point where you can start entering the criteria for the data you want to retrieve or the action you want to perform.
At Tideworks, we value efficiency created through a clean and simple user experience. We’ve listened to our customers over the last 20 years and made subtle improvements intended to make their jobs easier. Hotkeys, for example, enable users to keep their hands on the keyboard when navigating through the TOS or performing actions, instead of reaching for the mouse dozens of times each day.
Action-Driven Technology
Mainsail 10 is action-driven. You don’t have to navigate through numerous menus to get to your desired report or function. It’s intuitive nature allows users to get to whatever function needed no matter where they are in the application.
Perform the functions you need with ease –– make the switch to Mainsail 10 today.
