Black Sea’s main transportation trade hub to leverage industry proven solution to maximize efficiency and lower operating costs
Seattle, WA — Tuesday, January 13, 2009
Tideworks Technology®, Inc., a leading provider of full-service terminal management and planning software solutions, today announced that Batumi International Container Terminal (BICT), located in the Port of Batumi in Adjara, Georgia on the Black Sea, has successfully implemented Tideworks’ Spinnaker Planning Management System®.
BICT is the second International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) facility to select Tideworks’ container terminal management solutions. In 2006, ICTSI implemented Tideworks’ integrated software suite to manage cargo activities at its Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) facility in Gdynia, Poland, a major Baltic seaport and the gateway to Poland and beyond.
“We chose Tideworks because they offered industry-leading support and solutions that add the most value to our clients,” said Francis Carter, chief executive officer and general manager for Batumi International Container Terminal. “As the main transportation trade hub in the Black Sea, it is crucial that our operations are seamless and efficient. Spinnaker allows us to automate vessel planning and inventory control activities, thus increasing business productivity and enhancing customer service levels.”
By implementing Tideworks’ Spinnaker Planning Management System, BICT aims to improve planning capabilities, enhance container visibility in the yard and on vessels, lower operating costs and increase inventory control. BICT will also leverage Spinnaker’s purpose-built “Star Gate” module for gate processing to transport containers in and out of the terminal through the gate. The “stand alone” deployment of the Spinnaker application will allow BICT to immediately begin reaping the benefits of an advanced graphical planning system at a low total cost of ownership. As the terminal continues to grow, BICT will have the option to introduce the full suite of enterprise applications to scale with its operations, at no disruption to service.
“This unique implementation was achieved through a combination of international resources,” said Michael Schwank, president, Tideworks Technology. “Tideworks’ personnel were able to successfully implement the Spinnaker System and provide systems training and onsite support in partnership with ICTSI’s IT staff from the BCT operation in Poland as well as IT staff from the Philippines. We are excited to continue our relationship with ICTSI and provide cost-effective solutions that meet the needs of BICT’s customers.”
As part of Tideworks’ world-class software maintenance and support program, BICT will receive all software updates and upgrades as they are rolled out. Tideworks will also provide continuous care and application support through its service center in Seattle, and will offer additional support and service to BICT through its European headquarters in Spijkenisse, Netherlands.
