SMITCO marks Tideworks’ 15th deployment of its next-generation marine terminal operating system
SEATTLE – June 27, 2023 –Tideworks Technology® Inc. (Tideworks), a full-service provider of comprehensive terminal operating system (TOS) solutions, today announced that Santa Marta International Terminal Company (SMITCO), a container terminal operator based in Santa Marta, Colombia, is now live with Tideworks’ next-generation marine TOS solution, Mainsail 10.
SMITCO successfully upgraded from Tideworks’ legacy Mainsail solution to the advanced Mainsail 10, offering terminal operators more flexibility through a highly configurable user experience, intelligent third-party integration capabilities, and increased visibility to improve decision-making with responsive and powerful reporting. The legacy TOS was deployed in 2009, and this milestone marks nearly 15 years of partnership between Tideworks and the terminal. This go-live is also Tideworks’ 15th successful implementation of Mainsail 10.
“SMITCO moves the third largest cargo volume in Colombia, making it essential for us to have technology that streamlines operations and helps us evolve to meet the needs of the global supply chain,” said Juanita del Castillo, general manager of SMITCO. “We value our collaboration with Tideworks. With Mainsail 10, we can increase cargo flow, reduce costs, and manage operations in a more effective and productive way.”
Mainsail 10 integrates seamlessly with third-party systems and offers SMITCO a high-performance management tool that the terminal can scale as operations shift. As a gateway for trade between South America, North America and Europe, SMITCO’s use of Mainsail 10 will help the terminal manage fluctuating cargo volumes from various supply chain stakeholders.
“We’re proud to continue global momentum of Mainsail 10 and support of SMITCO’s critical operations across the region,” said Thomas Rucker, president of Tideworks Technology. “The upgrade to Mainsail 10 builds on our longstanding relationship with SMITCO and aids the company’s growth and modernization efforts across their operations. This is also an important milestone as Tideworks continues to strengthen our presence in the LATAM region.”
SMITCO deployed Mainsail 10 at the end of Q1 2023. Tideworks provided all associated implementation services that allowed SMITCO to make a smooth operational transition to the latest Tideworks TOS. These services included project management, software customization, configuration and installation, integration services, user training, and go-live assistance. Alongside Mainsail 10, SMITCO utilizes Spinnaker Planning Management System® and Traffic Control, Forecast® web portal and EDI Porter, which were also deployed by Tideworks in 2009.
SMITCO is a joint venture between Sociedad Portuaria de Santa Marta and Tideworks’ sister company, SSA Marine, which includes SSA International, the largest private operator of marine terminals in the world.
