New Terminal Operating Systems Will Provide Strategic Technology Enhancements, Streamlined Efficiency and IT Cost Savings for Developing Nickel Complex
Seattle, WA — Tuesday, October 29, 2013
Tideworks Technology®, Inc., a premier provider of full-service terminal management and planning software solutions, today announced that Koniambo Nickel SAS (KNS) in Koné, New Caledonia, has selected Tideworks to implement its terminal operating system (TOS) solutions for its new container operations.
Established near the New Caledonia North Province county town of Koné, KNS is developing a world-class industrial complex that will help New Caledonia become one of the world’s largest nickel producers. It is working to exploit a nickel deposit that is ranked one of the most important and of the best quality worldwide.
“We are pleased that KNS has chosen Tideworks for its container operations in Koné,” said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks. “It is a world-class organization that will do much for this region and we are excited to play a role. New Caledonia is a wonderful place and has represented a terrific opportunity for Tideworks. We are thrilled and very grateful to have the chance to serve a third customer in the region.”
The KNS project, which will go live in Q4 2013, includes deployment of Tideworks’ Spinnaker Planning Management System® and its Traffic Control™ equipment dispatch system. Tideworks will provide all associated implementation services, including project management, software configuration and installation, user training and go-live assistance. Post go-live, Tideworks will provide its platinum maintenance and support services, which include 24/7 technical support and all software upgrades. Tideworks will also provide KNS with remote administration of the application and database servers, OS and database patches and monitoring of system availability and performance.
KNS operates a mine, a pyrometallurgical nickel foundry, a power-generating station and other complementary infrastructures, most notably a privately owned deep-water port, an 11-kilometer land-based conveyor system and a seawater desalination plant. Ore treatment began the second quarter of 2013, and will gradually increase to reach an annual production of 60,000 tons of nickel content by 2014.
“Tideworks had a well-established reputation on New Caledonia. We knew we were going to get a comprehensive solution and superior customer service,” said Quentin Wyns, sales and distribution senior coordinator, Koniambo Nickel SAS. “With its powerful solutions we anticipate that Tideworks will help our container operations achieve peak efficiency and productivity, while helping us reach 9,500 TEU per year. Tideworks is a valuable ally as we build one of the top nickel facilities in the world.”
