Leading Provider of Terminal Operating Systems Continues Expansion in Latin America

Seattle, WA — Tuesday, February 11, 2014

Tideworks Technology®, Inc., a premier provider of full-service terminal management and planning software solutions, today announced that the new Barranquilla Container Terminal (BCT), located at the Port of Barranquilla, Colombia, has successfully implemented and gone live with Tideworks’ terminal operating system (TOS) solutions.

BCT has deployed Tideworks’ Mainsail Terminal Management System®, Forecast® by Tideworks and Spinnaker Planning Management System®. Tideworks will continue to provide its platinum maintenance and support services including around-the-clock technical support and all software upgrades. Additionally BCT will receive ongoing remote technical services to include system health monitoring and database and OS administration. BCT went live with Tideworks’ systems in November 2013.

“Tideworks’ strong expertise in terminal management and unmatched support model made them an obvious choice,” said Jaime Sasso, Barranquilla Container Terminal and Santa Marta International Terminal Company (SMITCO) general manager. “Tideworks affords a comprehensive system backed by a reliable support network that can help us reach unprecedented levels of productivity and efficiency.”

BCT is a joint venture between SSA International and Sociedad Portuaria del Norte (SPN), which is a subsidiary of the Sociedad Portuaria de Santa Marta Port. The terminal is managed by SMITCO. Currently, the terminal has a 3.5 hectare container yard with capacity for approximately 122,000 TEU annually, which BCT plans to expand to five hectares with an increased capacity of 190,000 TEU during the second phase of development.

“Colombia is a very vibrant and burgeoning region of Latin America, a region where Tideworks is affirming its own position as a leading provider of terminal operating systems,” said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks. “We are pleased that we have been given the opportunity to support BCT as it grows its business and looks toward expansion in the future.”
