Harnessing the data in ways that both help to reduce costs and optimize operations is a priority for Tideworks, which has seen an uptick in the number of its customers asking to integrate with more and more systems onto the cloud in order to enable further efficiencies within the terminal. Thus, the company has begun to develop a hybrid architecture that supports data processes both on premises and on the cloud to help drive smarter and more efficient decision making. Although ensuring such an infrastructure is able to operate smoothly with minimal interruptions is a challenge.
Chad Van Derrick, vice president of software product management at Tideworks Technology, told CM how Tideworks’ solution is able to ensure smooth operations: “If the network connection goes down, like your Wi-Fi drives at home, when it comes back online, flows of TOS data to the cloud pick up right where we left off, so that there’s no gaps in the data and yet the terminal is able to completely function as a standalone entity. Maybe it just doesn’t have that functionality for a little that might have gone to the cloud.”
