New Central Florida ILC in Winter Haven, Florida is Latest to Go Live with Tideworks’ Terminal Operating Systems
Seattle, WA — Tuesday, March 31, 2015
Tideworks Technology® Inc., a full-service provider of comprehensive terminal management and planning software solutions, today announced that CSX Intermodal Terminals, Inc.(CSXIT) has successfully deployed Tideworks’ Intermodal Pro® terminal operating system (TOS) and its Traffic Control™ work order dispatch and equipment control system at the new state-of-the-art Winter Haven, Florida intermodal facility.
Tideworks was selected through a competitive process to replace the in-house operating systems and provide intermodal TOS for CSXIT’s nationwide network of 38 terminals. The new 318-acre Winter Haven facility began operations earlier this year to serve the Orlando, Tampa and other regional Florida markets, with the capacity to process and transport up to 300,000 containers a year. The Central Florida ILC deployment marks one of five CSXIT-operated intermodal terminals now live with Tideworks’ TOS, the first being Northwest Ohio intermodal terminal in 2011.
“We value our relationship with CSX and are pleased Tideworks Technology’s solutions have been deployed to facilitate operations at Winter Haven,” said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks Technology. “CSX is a dynamic provider of transportation, logistics and distribution nationwide and this implementation continues to validate our technology in the intermodal rail terminal space, a priority market for us as we continue to expand and bring efficiency to more transportation organizations.”
Tideworks Intermodal Pro® and Traffic Control™ systems now enhance multiple operational aspects for the Central Florida ILC, including container inventory, railcar inventory, control of container movements and coordination of activities to and from trucks. The Central Florida ILC also benefits from Tideworks’ optimizations at other CSXIT sites, such as advanced move prioritization, optimized transfer lane allocation and efficient work list sorting. The combined systems make it easier and faster than ever for CSXIT to safely and efficiently load and unload railcars, monitor operations and optimize equipment and terminal utilization.
Specific key features powered by Tideworks at the Central Florida ILC include “Live Lift,” which allows automatic planning directly to and from rail and trackside stacks as well as the ability to escalate gate moves and reduce truck dwell time. Tideworks’ handheld gate solution also gives the terminal the flexibility to process inbound and outbound gate traffic, including damage, seal and hazardous inspections, without the constraints of physical lanes. The latest of Tideworks’ mobile solution offerings, it leverages an intuitive “wizard-style” user interface and can be deployed with minimal effort for training and support.
