New Terminal Operating Systems Provide Strategic Technology Enhancements, Streamlined Efficiency and IT Cost Savings for Growing Southwest Pacific Ports

Seattle, WA — Monday, August 13, 2012

Tideworks Technology®, Inc., a leading provider of full-service terminal management and planning software solutions, today announced that both Vale New Caledonia, at Prony Port in New Caledonia, and GIE Nouméa Port, also in New Caledonia, have gone live with Tideworks terminal operating system (TOS) solutions. Tideworks Technology implemented its TOS solutions at both facilities to more efficiently manage operations.

GIE Nouméa Port, established in 2006, handles containers and break bulk in the Port of Nouméa, the main port of French Overseas Territory New Caledonia, in the South Pacific. Prony Port is fully owned and operated by Vale New Caledonia (Vale NC) and handles the company’s import of raw materials and supplies for its nearby nickel oxide plant, as well as the export of nickel hydroxide cake, nickel sinter and cobalt carbonate.

“We are both proud and excited to have gone fully operational at GIE Nouméa Port and Vale NC, two important facilities in a burgeoning region for Tideworks,” said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks. “Both facilities are now better positioned to optimize and grow their operations. We are pleased to be able to partner with these two great companies.”

GIE Nouméa Port deployed Tideworks’ Mainsail Terminal Management System®, Spinnaker Planning Management System®, and Traffic Control™. Tideworks provided all associated implementation services including project management, software customization, user training, and go-live assistance. Under an Infrastructure Service Agreement incorporated in the master agreement, Tideworks is providing GIE Nouméa Port with remote administration of the application and database servers, operating system and database patches, and monitoring of system availability and performance.

“With Tideworks we knew we were getting a comprehensive solution and great customer service, and they did not disappoint,” said Mathieu Landrieu, GIE Noumea Port project manager. “We are already seeing an improvement in the efficiency at our port, with their powerful solutions, and an increase in productivity, as well as greatly reduced IT overhead costs. We now can fully optimize the daily yard management for the benefits of our customers using our facility as an efficient transshipment hub for the South Pacific islands markets.”

With approximately 30,000 container moves projected for 2013, Vale NC deployed Tideworks’ Spinnaker Planning Management System® to manage the port’s containerized operations and enhance inventory control. With the installation of the wireless network later in the year, Tideworks’ Traffic Control™ move dispatch and equipment control module will be activated, allowing Vale NC to electronically direct container movements to the handling equipment. Tideworks provided all associated implementation services, including: project management, software configuration and installation, user training and go-live assistance. As with GIE Nouméa Port, under an Infrastructure Services Agreement, Tideworks also provides Vale NC with remote administration of the application and database servers, OS and database patches, and monitoring of system availability and performance.

“We are extremely happy with the smooth and efficient installation of Tideworks’ systems,” said Jerome Ventage, Vale NC project manager. “We are already seeing vast improvements in terms of operation visibility and inventory control, as we expected. Tideworks is a strong partner who has not only helped us successfully deploy this new system, but one who has delivered excellent technical support and assistance. We couldn’t be more satisfied.”
