Tideworks Stories in Motion continues with Ignacio Bilbao García, whose career has been defined by deep, hands-on experience in terminal operations and the technologies behind them.
At Tideworks, Ignacio has played a key role in strengthening our presence across Latin America. His work is grounded in real operational understanding and close partnership with customers.
Before joining Tideworks, Ignacio spent 23 years in the Chilean Navy, rising to Commander. He then transitioned into terminal operations with SSA Marine MIT-Panama. There, in one of the busiest terminals in Latin America, he supported the commissioning of ship-to-shore cranes and led major automation initiatives, including Gate Operating System implementation and automated stacking crane operations.
That experience across waterside, yard, and gate operations gives him a practical, end-to-end understanding of terminal performance and execution.
Today, as Director, Business Services Latam & Caribbean, he leads regional teams and key accounts while staying closely connected to daily terminal realities. His background on both the operator and technology sides makes him a strong and trusted advocate for customers across the region.
Outside of work, fishing remains a personal passion — a reflection of his approach: patient, focused, and steady as conditions change.
Thank you, Ignacio, for everything you bring to Tideworks.
