Port of Miami Terminal Operating Company (POMTOC) has advanced its terminal modernization strategy with the deployment of a cloud-based terminal operating system built on Mainsail 10 and Spinnaker. The deployment, hosted on Amazon Web Services, is designed to support higher cargo volumes while enhancing scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency. Delivered through a cloud-based subscription model, the implementation moves critical terminal systems into a scalable cloud environment, reducing on-site infrastructure requirements and enabling POMTOC to focus on day-to-day terminal operations.
The deployment introduces a modern architecture with robust security standards and a user-friendly interface designed for terminal operators. Hosted in the cloud, the system supports scalability to accommodate changing operational demands while maintaining system reliability. By leveraging cloud infrastructure, POMTOC benefits from improved data security and reduced dependency on local hardware environments.
A key component of the platform is its flexible integration framework. Standardized APIs enable seamless data exchange between third-party systems, terminal equipment, and partner platforms. This connectivity allows POMTOC to coordinate operations across multiple systems without creating silos, supporting smoother workflows from gate to yard to vessel. The platform works alongside existing systems including GateVision and EDI Porter, forming an integrated ecosystem that supports comprehensive operational oversight.
The integration of Mainsail 10 with Spinnaker provides enhanced command tools, configurable workflows, and real-time visibility for equipment dispatchers and mobile users. These capabilities support improved coordination across terminal activities, better access to operational data, and more informed decision-making in real time. By aligning planning and execution, the platform helps streamline terminal operations and improve overall efficiency.
By moving to a cloud-based environment hosted on Amazon Web Services, POMTOC reduces reliance on on-site infrastructure while improving its ability to scale operations as cargo volumes grow. This approach enhances operational scalability, strengthens data security, and increases system reliability while maintaining flexibility to adapt to evolving needs. The subscription-based delivery model also simplifies system management and supports ongoing operational continuity.
Combined with existing solutions like GateVision and EDI Porter, the deployment provides an integrated platform spanning gate, yard, and vessel operations. This unified environment enables greater visibility across terminal processes and supports more efficient cargo movement throughout the facility.
POMTOC’s modernization roadmap includes the planned implementation of additional capabilities to further enhance terminal efficiency. Future initiatives will build on the cloud-based foundation established with Mainsail 10 and Spinnaker, supporting continued improvements in equipment coordination, yard optimization, and operational performance.
